Home Visits

Where ever possible, we prefer to see patients at the surgery where more comprehensive examinations and tests may be carried out. Many patients do feel unwell when they need to see a GP and a short trip to the surgery when you are acutely unwell is not usually harmful.

Home visits will always be made to those housebound or terminally ill patients.

If you feel too unwell to come to the surgery, please telephone the surgery (before 10am if possible). Your details will be taken and a doctor will call you back to assess your problem. He / she may ask you to come to the surgery, where you will be seen as soon as possible.

Transport problems are not felt to be a reason for requesting a visit. If you are able to get someone to bring you, or can get a taxi, this would help us enormously.

Several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes a GP to make 1 home visit. We also have far better facilities here for examining and treating patients.

The doctors would like to stress that NO patient in genuine need of a home visit will be refused.
