GP Registrars

Dr. Rachel Skelton (female) GP registrar
MSci Nottingham 2004, BMBS Nottingham 2009

Personal Profile:
Following college I studied Biochemistry at university, but after gaining my MSci I realised that rather than working in a lab I wanted to work more closely with people. I applied for the graduate entry medical course based between Derby and Nottingham, qualifying in 2009. Since then I have worked at King’s Mill Hospital and Nottingham City hospital in respiratory medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, oncology and psychiatry. I have started my GP training this year at Huthwaite surgery where I will complete 4 months training before moving on to other placements, although I will be back at Huthwaite during my final year of training.

Personal Profile:
I was born and grew up in Mauritius. I left home when I was 19y and came to Nottingham to study Medicine in 2003.

After I graduated I worked for a year at Queens Medical Centre followed by a year at Kings Mill Hospital before joining the Mansfield GP Training Scheme. I have rotated through placements in Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, A&E, Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as General Practice. I am currently in my second of three years of training to become a fully trained GP. I really enjoy learning more each day. I will be based at Huthwaite until early Dec 2011.

I speak fluent French. In my spare time I enjoy reading, going on long walks, travelling and visiting my family and boyfriend who currently live in various cities and countries around the world (Cardiff, France and Mauritius!).
